Before Bill and I were married, I set this verse to music because it meant so much to me.
"You are My witnesses," says the Lord, "and My servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He. Before Me there was no god formed; neither shall there be after Me. I, even I, am the LORD." Is 43:10-11
At that time this verse meant that God simply wanted me to know Him and believe Him, and believe that He is Who was said He was. That invitation spoke powerfully to a young girl with no Christian family heritage.
In the years since, though, I have come to see that it also says we are to be His witnesses – and this also has been a great invitation to me. “You are My witnesses” means I don’t have to be a great teacher or speaker – just a witness to what God is doing in my life. And as long as I speak from my own witness, or personal testimony (and not from theory), then what I say will glorify God and be of help to others. This truth has given me confidence to speak.
God wants us all to be His witness, to give “the word of our testimony” about Him. This is one of the ways we overcome the enemy:
And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now is come salvation and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” Rev 12:11
It’s my hope to add many more testimonies to the Moms’ Group page as more folks share. I am encouraged by others’ testimonies because as I see how the enemy is overcome in someone else’s life, I see how he can be overcome in mine.
Here are a few overcoming testimonies that have been shared in our Moms' meetings in the last year or two. The struggles these ladies went through and the lessons they learned, and are still learning, were a source of great encouragement to many of us. All of them are busy mommies, and some don't get to check email every day, but all have each said they would be glad to pray with or share with any mom who needed encouragement. If you feel you need a sister to encourage you in an area you're struggling in, feel free to drop one of them a note with your contact info.
